We LOVE our Jerseys. We have 2 registered Jersey’s to supply our own dairy needs.

When we transitioned from keeping dairy goats to dairy cattle, we chose Jersey's for several reasons. Overall, they are a smaller, less intimidating size compared to many of the other dairy breeds.

Jersey milk is very dense in nutrients and contains 20% more butterfat than other breeds. It also has 15% more protein, 15-18% more calcium, and 10-12% more of other essential vitamins and minerals. And, Jersey's don't produce the large
volume of milk as some other dairy breeds. We don't need the 7+ gallons of milk a day that some breeds produce because we are only producing dairy products for our family. Our Jerseys generally produce 2-3 gallons a day, maximum. That's an easier volume to handle for our small family.
